Jackpot Winners Interview:
Karen D. won $633,336.24 on Major Millions on August 4,
2004 at Spin Palace.
Did anything unusual happen the day that you hit the jackpot?
"No. I just felt that the jackpot was goint to hit for someone. Not
necessarily myself."
What did you do when you realized you'd hit the jackpot?
"I said thank you lord and just stared in disbelief for a few minutes. I left
the winning screen up with all the bells and whistles and called my mom. I
told her to listen for a few seconds and told her she was moving back to be
closer to her family."
How will you spend your winnings?
"First things first, I will pay off my credit card debt. The next thing will
be to move my mother closer to us. She lives about 2 hours away and would like
to be closer. My husband and I were planning to go to Austrailia in January
and now we will for sure but after speaking to one of the very friendly Spin
Palace customer service representatives, we may well visit Cape Town as well."
How long were you playing before you hit the jackpot?
"I play quite a bit but actually wasn't playing Major Millions very long
before I felt it would hit. Maybe 5 minutes."
What do you do for good luck?
"I don't have any good luck rituals. I just try to trust my instincts and
feelings."
What piece of advice has most helped you through life?
"Treat others as you would like to be treated. And be honest."
What is your dream holiday destination?
"We love to travel. Our dream destination is to visit Austrailia. There are
still many places we would also like to go. As I said previously, we have
added Cape Town to our list and I would also like to go see Egypt."
What do you do in your spare time?
"I like to work in the yard, go shopping, decorate the house, spend time with
my family, look at houses for sale, and of course, play at the online
casinos."
If you were stranded on a deserted island what 3 things would you take with
you and why?
"A big bucket, matches, and a knife. The bucket would be used to boil the
water I would need to drink and could be used for other things as well. The
matches to light the fire and the knife to help build shelter."
What is your ultimate goal in life?
"My ultimate goal is to..gosh, do I have an ultimate goal? I guess I just want
to end up knowing that I have done my best in all areas of my life."
Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
"I'm married to my second husband and will soon be celebrating our 10th
wedding anniversary. I have 2 children from my first marriage. A son who just
turned 25 and a daughter who is 23. My husband also has a son who is 28 and a
daughter who is 24. I just retired from my job after 30 years. Finally!
Winning this jackpot will enable me to be debt free except for the mortgage.
Now I don't have to actually find another "job" to supplement. I will make the
real estate investments my full time job." |
